Summer vacays are all about endless partying, eating out and sleeping late. After all that, you and your skin need a good detox; and we have just the right kind of ideas to rejuvenate you! Buckle up ladies, here’s how you can reset your skin and get your beautiful glow back after a long holiday.
Fill a large bowl with hot water and add a few drops of your favourite essential oil (lavender, sandalwood etc). Cover your head with a towel and lean over the bowl so the steam comes directly on your face. After 10 minutes, put aside the bowl and wipe your face clean. The steam helps open up the pores which allows you to clean out all the dirt and excess oil.
Now that your pores have opened up, it’s time to give it a good scrub and remove the clogged dirt. Make your own homemade scrub by grinding together a few rose petals, granulated sugar, and grapeseed essential oil. Apply this scrub on your face and massage it in, in circular motions for five to 10 minutes before washing it off.
Once your skin is scrubbed clean, it needs a moisturising face mask. Prepare your own face mask by mixing together one tablespoon multani mitti, a pinch of turmeric and some rose water into a smooth paste. Apply it all over the face and neck; leave it on till it dries completely and then wipe it clean with a cotton ball dipped in ice-cold water. This mask will take away the tan and leave your skin feeling soft and supple.
Now it’s time to moisturise your skin. Make your own night-time moisturising cream by mixing together aloe vera gel, almond oil and the liquid from a Vitamin E capsule. Apply it all over your face and neck before you hit the sack and you’ll wake up with glowing and rejuvenated skin!
Last but not the least, it is important to eat right. Glowing radiant skin depends on what we eat and that’s why when you’re on a skin detox you need to stay away from sugar, dairy, coffee, processed food and fried foods. Also, no smoking and drinking. Load up on fresh fruits and veggies, and you will see magical results in a few days!
When you’re treating yourself to some DIY pampering at-home, make sure you’re wearing something comfy! Soft pyjamas and snuggly tops is just what you need!
